Transportation for medical appointments is available for Garden River Band members. Read on to learn more about the eligibility requirements.
Medical Transportation
The Medical Transportation Program provides transportation to residents of the Garden River First Nation who meet the criteria in the following three categories.

Medical Transportation
Transportation may be provided from Garden River First Nation to Sault Ste. Marie for those in need of a ride to attend their medical appointments that are not available on reserve and are approved by Indigenous Services Canada.
Indigenous Service Canada required the letter of "Confirmation of Attendance" to be signed or stamped by the medical professional and given to the driver. Services will be suspended by Indigenous Service Canada until the document is received.
Transportation May be available for non-life-threatening illnesses that require medical attention.
If an emergency, call 911.

After
Hours
After hours transportation may be provided from Garden River First Nation to Sault Ste. Marie for those in need of a ride to attend their medical appointments that are not available on reserve and are approved by Indigenous Services Canada that are scheduled during weekdays BEFORE 8:00 am or AFTER 4:00 pm or scheduled on weekends.
The letter of "Confirmation of Attendance" must be signed or stamped by the medical professional and given to the driver. Services will be suspended by Indigenous Services Canada until the document is received.

Home & Community Care (H&CC)
H&CC Transportation is exclusively for clients in the Home & Community Care program of Garden River Wellness Centre.
H&CC Shopping Transportation may be provided for non-medical appointments in Sault Ste. Marie (i.e. banking, groceries, shopping, hairdresser/barber etc.)
Transportation may be provided for clients to their appointments at the Wellness Centre.
This service is not available on statutory holidays or when the Wellness Centre is closed.
